On Friday, April 29, seven members of the Unity Porchlight Team attended the Second Harvest spring conference. We listened, learned, shared and had some fun and also gained $240 of credit towards buying food products from Second Harvest. Team members who attended are Lloyd & Sandra Rowley, Ron Ruzicka, Ann Zenner, Roger Thompson, Don Macaulay and Terri Rorek.
What an energy- and event-filled first half of 2016 we've had at Unity of Madison.
This recap was presented at our Town Hall Meeting, July 10, 2016.
The Unity of Madison bookstore is located on the first floor and is open before and after our 10am Sunday service. The Bookstore sells books, gifts and Porchlight items to members and visitors at Unity of Madison. The Bookstore is looking for additional volunteers to staff the store on Sundays.

“With open hearts we graciously offer comfort and a place for our community to foster spiritual and personal relationships.” We believe hospitality is sacred service to our community. We provide space to meet new members, renew friendships and enjoy a cup of coffee and a treat before our 10am service. We are busy each Sunday which shows the importance of our contribution to the greater Unity community.
Once a month, the usher/greeter team member’s job is to welcome everyone to our Sunday worship service and help make everything run smoothly. Being an usher is an easy and fun way to give back to your church with a minimum extra time commitment. It is an opportunity to meet new people and form new friendships within the usher/greeter team.

The Advent Banners in Unity of Madison
By Carol McCullough-Dieter
I had the pleasure of working with a wonderful group of women to create the Advent banners that are hanging in the church for the Advent season (Figure 1). Hand painting silk is a many-step process, which I learned from a talented artist on Maui, who creates kimonos and fabric by the yard for other artists. I have made scarves, pillows, silk shirts, and even toys with my own hand painted silk.
