Prayer Shawl Team
What We Do
Members of the Prayer Shawl Ministry lovingly knit or crochet both full-sized and pocket shawls for members, family, and friends of Unity who are experiencing physical and emotional challenges such as:
- Medical Problems including surgery, cancer treatment, chronic illness, and other medical conditions.
- Emotional challenges such as loss of a loved one or mental health issues.
We also knit baby blankets to present at a Christening or Baptism and other joyful occasions.
2016 Update: At their June meeting, members of the Prayer Shawl Committee blessed 13 new shawls/baby blankets to be given away.
How You Can Help
If you like to knit or crochet, you are welcome to join our group. Also, you can support our work by donating full skeins of soft yarn and/or make a monetary donation for us to purchase yarn.
December 2018: Our group meets the first Friday of the month at Unity of Madison in our newly remodeled Lower Level from 9:30am - Noon. We open with prayer and then as we are knitting or crocheting, we share patterns and add our blessings to completed shawls.
Once a year we make items for a holiday craft sale to raise money to buy yarn.
If you want to learn, or have just started knitting or crocheting and would like some help, our experienced members are there to assist you.
