Dear members, congregants, and friends of Unity of Madison:
Last week, I met with our Board of Trustees and shared with them my decision to retire from active church ministry at the end of September. Church ministry has been a primary focus in my life for over 15 years, but for some time now, spirit has been nudging me to reconsider my priorities. Mary Morrissey teaches us to imagine a life we would love to live, and when I do that, I see myself stepping away from church ministry to create a space for new opportunities and new paths of service to manifest in my life.
This decision was not an easy one. It came after much prayer and consideration. Now that it has been shared, the board and I are actively working to develop a transition plan and timetable to insure that the congregation, team leaders, board and staff are fully supported, and that our day to day operations and building repair and improvement plans continue to move ahead smoothly and easily. The board will also take advantage of the support and resources available from Unity Worldwide Ministries as appropriate.
Going forward, Audrey and I will remain in Madison. We eagerly look forward to taking a much deeper dive into all that Wisconsin has to offer as well as to having greater time freedom to travel and spend time with family and friends.
I am grateful for the honor and privilege of having served as your minister. I truly appreciate and value all that we have accomplished in our three years together, and I am excited for the bright potential your future holds as you move forward with the building repairs and improvements and further define your plans to create a welcoming and nurturing environment for those who are seeking the positive path for spiritual living that Unity offers. Affirming your highest and best in all matters and continued blessings to you on your journey! Reverend Judy Pilat
