Spiritual Care Team Ministry

Unity of Madison Prayer Chaplains hold sacred space

Spiritual Care Team

Who may serve on our Spiritual Care Team Ministry?

The Spiritual Care Team Ministry is comprised of lay individuals who function as an extension of the pastoral ministry of the congregation.  The ministry includes both Prayer Chaplains and Keepers of the Flame. The Spiritual Care Team members are not counselors or ordained ministers; they are congregation members who want to serve and to grow spiritually.  Being a member of the Spiritual Care Team is transformative soul work as it deepens ones spiritual path through prayer and service.  No prior experience in prayer or praying with others is required to serve on our Spiritual Care Team.

Our Team:

  • Is available to support others on their spiritual journey.
  • Creates and holds sacred space.
  • Lovingly listens and holds what is heard in the strictest of confidence, meaning that what is shared with the Prayer Chaplain is not discussed with anyone else, including the person who made the initial prayer request.
  • Prays with others.
