Join Linda Scott for an informative and personal exploration of transgender identity from political, religious, medical, historical, and lived perspectives. She will address common misunderstandings about transgender people and consider how fear and division can grow when people have little opportunity to hear directly from transgender individuals.
Linda will explore faith and the diversity of creation, including biblical perspectives on gender and the understanding that God creates diversity while human beings often create divisions. She will also discuss the complexity of human sexual development and the many natural variations in sex characteristics that challenge a strictly binary understanding of sex and gender.
The presentation will include examples of historical and contemporary transgender individuals, along with Linda’s own experiences. Linda Scott follows a spiritual path rooted in Unity and other New Thought teachings. An author and experienced public speaker, she previously worked in Milwaukee public radio as a program director, news director, reporter, and talk-show host. She also taught advanced computer programming at Marquette University while pursuing doctoral studies at UW–Milwaukee.
